# Frequently asked questions

Referral program · code `STAR-XCTW-2GM7` · 50,000 UEC bonus

**What is the Star Citizen referral code on this page?**
The referral code is `STAR-XCTW-2GM7`. New players enter this code on the
Roberts Space Industries enlistment page during account creation to qualify
for the 50,000 UEC starting credits bonus.

**How do new players get 50,000 free UEC with this referral code?**
New players enter referral code `STAR-XCTW-2GM7` when creating their Star
Citizen account at robertsspaceindustries.com/enlist. The 50,000 UEC starting
credits are added to the new account immediately. The referrer earns a
Recruitment Point only once the recruit obtains a Game Package and spends a
minimum of $40 USD on the RSI Pledge Store.

**Did the Star Citizen referral program change in 2025?**
Yes. On July 2, 2025, Cloud Imperium Games overhauled the referral program.
The new player UEC bonus increased from 5,000 UEC to 50,000 UEC, the reward
ladder was completely reset and revamped, and a 24-hour grace period was
added so new accounts can apply a referral code retroactively. Referrers who
already had recruits before that date keep progressing on the legacy ladder
too, since new referrals now count toward both the legacy and new ladders
at once.

**Is there a minimum spend for the referrer to earn a Recruitment Point?**
Yes. The new player must obtain a Game Package and spend a minimum of $40 USD
on the RSI Pledge Store for the referrer to be credited with a Recruitment
Point. Gifted pledges and discounted starter packages below $40 USD do not
qualify. The new player still receives their 50,000 UEC bonus regardless.

**Can new players add this referral code if they already created an account?**
Star Citizen offers a 24-hour grace period after account creation during
which a new player can still add a referral code retroactively through their
account settings on the RSI website. After this 24-hour window, an existing
account cannot have a referral code added.

**Will I see the 50,000 UEC immediately when I play the alpha?**
Not instantly as spendable currency, but it isn't locked away until live
release either. The bonus is credited to your RSI website account as UEC.
Per RSI's official currency documentation, website UEC that isn't bundled
with a Game Package — which includes this referral bonus — is factored into
your starting aUEC (Alpha UEC) balance whenever the game's economy resets
for a new test phase. It typically appears in-game after the next major
patch reset; exact starting amounts and reset timing vary by patch, so check
current patch notes. When Star Citizen exits Alpha for live release, this
UEC becomes your permanent starting currency.

**Is this referral code safe for new players to use?**
Yes. `STAR-XCTW-2GM7` is a valid referral code from Star Citizen's official
referral program operated by Cloud Imperium Games. New players enter the code
directly on robertsspaceindustries.com during account creation. This page is
an unofficial fan site and is not affiliated with the Cloud Imperium Group of
Companies.

**Do Star Citizen referral codes expire or stop working?**
No. Individual Star Citizen referral codes do not expire. `STAR-XCTW-2GM7`
stays valid indefinitely and works the same in 2026 as it did when the
current 50,000 UEC program launched in July 2025. What does change over time
are CIG's time-limited referral bonus events (extra items during things like
Invictus Launch Week or IAE) and the recruitment reward ladder tiers, which
CIG updates periodically — but the code itself, and the 50,000 UEC
new-player bonus, are not affected by those changes.

**What can new players do with 50,000 UEC in Star Citizen?**
Once reflected in their in-game aUEC balance, new players can spend the
credits at in-game kiosks and terminals on FPS gear, weapons, armor, ship
components, fuel, ship repairs, insurance, and ship rentals — giving them a
strong head start without extra real-money spend. The same UEC carries over
as their starting balance once Star Citizen leaves Alpha for live release.
